Animal Birthday Party at Grandfather Mountain

Grandfather Mountain celebrates the birthdays of all the animals in the park with games, contests, crafts and surprises. Included with park admission on June 12th, 2013.

Nation’s Inn is located 45 minutes from Grandfather Mountain State Park, come stay a quiet night with us then explore the mountain while celebrating the animals birthdays.

Annual Holiday Parade

November 16th will be the Annual Holiday Parade at noon. A small town affair that includes Santa, the high school band, local business floats and more right through Downtown West Jefferson.

Annual Hometown Christmas

November 29th will be the 7th Annual Hometown Christmas at 5pm. There will be a lighting of the Community Christmas Tree by Santa and his helpers, rides on an old fashioned fire engine, hot chocolate, and caroling at the Downtown West Jefferson BackStreet Park.

Ashe County Bluegrass and Old Time Fiddlers Convention

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Fiddlers Convention is a family friendly event that is sure to get your toes tappin’. The convention remains musician-centered as it serves to honor the Old Time and Bluegrass music of the mountains and the musicians who make it.

Blue Ridge Brutal

August 10th will be the Blue Ridge Brutal. Beginning and ending at the foot of Mt. Jefferson this 57, 75 and 100 mile bike ride tours Ashe, Alleghany and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Christmas in July

July 6th will be the annual Christmas in July Festival running from 9am until 7 pm. Largest street festival in Ashe County. Arts, crafts, music, civil war reenactors, food and fun in downtown West Jefferson.

Coffee House Live

On June 8th and August 17th West Jefferson United Methodist Church will hold its Coffee House Live event at 7:30 pm each of the nights at the West Jefferson United Methodist Church’s Hensley Hall.

Day Out with Thomas

Tweetsie Railroad is having their annual Day Out with Thomas from May 31st until June 9th. The Day Out with Thomas is a 25 minute train ride aboard a full size Thomas the Tank Engine. Meeting Sir Thomas Hatt including storytelling, live music and build with mega blocks.

Nation’s Inn is located 35 miles from Tweetsie Railroad. Enjoy a nice quiet night’s stay and then go and enjoy the experience at Tweetsie Railroad.

Downtown Trick or Treating

October 31st is Downtown Trick-or-Treating along participating businesses on Jefferson Ave from 4 until 8 pm. After tricking and treating you can head to the Backstreet for fire engine rides and food & candy from the Farmers Market.

Free Backstreet Concert Series

A series of concerts featuring a local band from folk to bluegrass to jazz in the Backstreet Park of West Jefferson. The Concerts are held from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm and will occur on May 31st, June 21st, June 28th, July 19th, July 26th, August 16th, August 23rd, and August 30th. Bring a chair and enjoy the fresh mountain air filled with good music!

Grandfather Mountain Marathon

Held July 13th in Boone, NC. Nation’s Inn is 30 min from Boone.

Live Country Music and Street Dance

July 5th there will be Live Country Music and Street Dance starting at 6pm as a precursor to the following days Christmas in July. There will be great music and food vendors along Main Street to tempt your palate.

Meet Dora the Explorer and Diego from Go, Diego, Go

Tweetsie Railroad is having their annual Meet Dora the Explorer and Diego from Go, Diego, Go event from June 21st until June 23rd. You can meet Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego from 11 am til 3pm daily this weekend. Take the kids and then enjoy a nice quiet evening with Nation’s Inn.

Ola Belle Reed Homecoming Festival

Featuring top-notch award winning visiting and local musicians from Americana, Bluegrass, Old-time, Country and Folk traditions, the Ola Belle Reed Homecoming Festival is a community-based event and fundraiser sponsored by the Greater Lansing Area Development Committee (GLAD), a 501(c)3 organization committed to the revitalization of Lansing, the birthplace of Ola Belle Reed. The group consists of community volunteers who are dedicated to this annual event in the spirit of Appalachian tradition.

On The Same Page Literacy Festival

From September 17th through the 21st will be On The Same Page Literacy Festival offering a community read, author talks, performances and events around the city.

Siren Mountain Jam

Siren Mountain Jam is a two-day women’s music and art festival held at the beautiful High Country Fairgrounds in Boone, North Carolina, on June 21-22, 2013. Siren Mountain Jam brings together some of the best women musicians and female-fronted bands, world-class women artists, and non-profit women’s organizations for a weekend of fun celebrating women’s contributions to the arts. In addition to a dozen musical acts and thirty artist vendors, the festival offers a healing arts village, workshops on a variety of topics, and activities that promote women’s art, causes, and concerns. Food vendors will provide vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Nation’s Inn is located 26 min from the Fairgrounds in quiet West Jefferson.

West Jefferson’s Arts District Gallery Crawl.

This event is held in historic downtown West Jefferson. It is held the 2nd Friday of each month June through October (June 14th, July 12th, August 9th, September 13th and October 11th) with a special Christmas Crawl scheduled for December 6th. It is an open house of the 15 Art Galleries and Studios in West Jefferson from 5pm until 8 pm.

West Jefferson Old Time Antiques Festival

September 28th marks the West Jefferson Old Time Antiques Festival. Live music, antiques and food vendors will be in downtime West Jefferson for this fall even.
